AGE AT DIAGNOSIS: 12weeks DIAGNOSIS: AML Leukemia
HOSPITAL: Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack, NJ
HIS FIRST TREATMENT: Joseph is the youngest to ever undergo the treatment
of high doses of chemotherapy, with one month in pediatric ICU, and then a stem cell transplant to date. If this treatment works well for him it will then be approved for other young children
with this affliction and maybe similar diseases. A new case study shows only 100 people young or old in the U.S. have ever undergone this treatment
TREATMENT PERIOD: waiting for transplant to
engraft completely, doing well so far.
PROGNOSIS: DR's. Hope for no relapses, however...high chances of one. He will be monitored VERY CLOSELY for the next five years.

Joseph went to the clinic for his monthly checkup at "TOMORROW
CHILDRENS CLINIC" in Hackensack, and found out the cancer was back.
He had relapsed.
DIAGNOSIS: ALL leukemia, the cancer was back but changed to a different kind.Now the cancer was in
his bone marrow. He has relapsed at the age of only 13 months old.
TREATMENT: a more aggressive protocol of chemotherapy, which is much more highly toxic, and was told that maybe he
wouldn't survive the treatment.
TO DATE: Joseph survived the treatment and is in remission, waiting for theBone marrow transplant, which is scheduled for some time in FEBUARY! No exact
date yet.
